Dynamic Tension Training
is simply - 'the working of muscles against muscles to
produce force'
This is a very valuable
though hardly used form of exercise that has failed to
really take off in the western world. The use of Dynamic
Tension can be linked to the Martial Arts, and it is there
that most people learn of it, how to build it into there
training regimes and ultimately gain the advantages linked
to this type of training.
The Dynamic Tension
Training that I use is taken slightly away from the Martial
Arts and practically adapted in order to be used by a non
martial artist. It is very simple to use and can be learnt
by anyone. It is almost like weight training but without the
weights!
So what are the
advantages of Dynamic Tension Training?
- Correct movement
patterns
- Postural control
- Core strength
- Muscle strength,
muscle density and muscle tone
- Fat loss
- Joint and muscle
flexibility
- Freedom of movement
- Almost a 0% risk of
injury or strain
- Can be done literally
anywhere and even short bouts of this training discipline
have been shown to make a BIG difference in a short amount
of time.
One way to describe just
one example of this training type is to put both hands in
front of you, palms facing outwards with your elbows bent,
you then imagine you are pushing against a large object and
as you do so apply the appropriate resistance to your muscle
until you push your arm out in fully in front of you.
