Without a doubt the most
physically and mentally able individuals lie within the
British Military, namely the Royal Marines, PARAS and
Special Forces. The training is the most intense, the
hardest mentally and the most physically demanding out of
all training types.
During my selection with
the Royal Marine Commandos I experienced first hand the
absolute abundance of pain, strain and exhaustion that is
required to successfully pass training. It is relentless to
a degree of insanity for the normal individual and even the
fittest can fail miserably.
So
what service do I offer than can possibly compete with the
likes of the above Corps and Regiments?
The answer lies with
intensity and sheer mental and physical excursion beyond
anything that you would have ever done before. A complete
regime that requires 110% from the individual or group and a
lot of hardship as well as shouting from me!! Of course it
is impossible to match wholeheartedly the training that the
guys in the military do to become some of the worlds
fittest, but for the normal individual this is as close as
you're ever likely to get without actually dressing up in
combats and joining up!!
It revolves around my
circuit, sprint and fight training disciplines but with a
gentle, well a harsh wake up call to just how far your body
and mind can be pushed to the absolute limit.
This training is not for
the faint hearted and requires total commitment and the
ability to overcome and adapt quickly!!
What
sort of individuals would want to do this sort of training?
- Persons applying for
the forces - be it Navy, Army or Airforce and including the
Royal Marines and Paras. Fitness levels especially for the
later mentioned have to be extremely high and without
training hard enough for selection you WILL simply fail
selection!! The Navy and Airforce fitness levels are not as
tough but you will still require a degree of physical
fitness and understanding to be able to pass your pre
joining fitness tests. The standard Army ie not the PARAS
requires a good general level of fitness that can be
obtained by most with plenty of hard work. The biggest
mistake people make is underestimating the physical training
they have to perform and overestimating their own abilities
to perform. This is the one main reason people fail
selection.
