Respiratory Training is the strengthening of the Respiratory System which comprises of the Lungs, the Diaphragm and respiratory passageways and is a vital part of fitness training that is rarely ever done as a specific exercise.

Many people today suffer from altered breathing patterns and poor breathing technique and this can lead to a host of problems including postural distortion patterns, fatigue, inadequate joint motion in certain areas and even anxiety and stress.

We normally train our respiratory system when we undergo aerobic exercise like running, cycling or playing sports. Not many people actually undergo exercises geared solely towards working this area.

So what are the benefits of utilizing respiratory training methods?

Well not only will your lungs be able to sustain a lot more physical activity and recover quicker immediately after exercise, but you will be able to use what oxygen you take in more effectively, increase flexibility and strength to your diaphragm and increase stability in some postural muscles and decrease your stress levels.

Respiratory Training

As part of my everyday personal training sessions, I use respiratory training to increase the fitness levels of my clients. Working on many techniques, some virtually unknown to most trainers.

- Ibuki breathing - forced tension inhalation and expiration

- Nogare Breathing - Passive relaxed breathing

- Correct Breathing Technique - During rest and during exercise

- Recovery Breathing Techniques

- Dynamic Tension with Forced (Ibuki), passive and timed breathing

Here's what one client had to say.......

"I suffered from bad asthma and when exercising to any degree I immediately get short of breath and had to stop. When I started training with Kevin Phillips he immediately started to work on my lungs and after only a few sessions I have improved my breathing. The techniques he uses I haven't seen before but they work very well. I actually know how to breath properly now and can control it when I feel the onset of an asthma attack. My everyday life has now changed, I don't get out of breath nearly as much as I used to and the training I have received has inspired me to take up swimming. Kevin Phillips doesn't just train you, he teaches you how to keep yourself fit, he gives you the understanding and knowledge you need and has been an asset to my now improved well being"
