Common
misconceptions regarding weight training....
For Women
I am female and
I don't want to look like a body builder
This is not
going to happen, the absence of the male hormone
testosterone will not allow the general female to 'beef up'
or get 'ripped' without using growth hormones, steroids and
training and eating for hours and hours a day. Infact women
that don't embark on a weight training program or any other
form of muscle building exercise run a large risk of muscle
depletion through not working the muscle groups enough to
sustain a healthy level of muscle mass.
For Men
I weight train
in the gym 4 times a week so I don't need to do fitness
training
Weight training
does not increase your fitness levels or aerobic capacity.
You may have a nice looking body, rippling muscles but this
doesn't mean you are fit. So relying soley on weight
training as a training discipline won't exactly do your
health any good. Yes you will be stronger but your heart,
lungs and other such muscles used in aerobic exercise will
not get used. Only fitness training will achieve this and if
you don't follow a decent fitness training regime as well as
your weight training then you run the risk of many health
concerns.
